Your Guide to Hiring Meeting Rooms in King's Cross

What is a minimum spend, and what does it include?

A minimum spend is a floor on what you spend at the venue rather than a room rental fee. At The Parcel Yard, for example, the minimum spend covers all food, drinks, VAT and service charges; if your group does not reach the minimum, a room hire fee is added to make up the difference. That means a £250 minimum spend is not £250 on top of catering – it is £250 of catering you were likely to buy anyway.

Two practical consequences:

  • A minimum spend can work well for meetings with lunch and refreshments, because your food and drink contribute towards the required spend.
  • For meetings that don't need catering, compare the minimum spend with a straightforward room hire fee, as you may otherwise have to pay any shortfall.

Confirm what's included in your quote before booking so you can compare the total cost accurately.

Where can you find cheap meeting rooms in King's Cross?

The cheapest verified meeting rooms near King's Cross are at Frequency King's Cross on King's Cross Road, 0.4 miles from the station, from £30 per hour, £120 for a half day, or £200 for a full day. A five-hour package is £150 in total and includes a round of tea and coffee, water, a 65-inch screen, whiteboard, flipchart and Wi-Fi.

What you get at that price is worth checking before you book. The Frequency large meeting room seats six boardroom-style, and its listing shows no projector, conference-call facilities, air conditioning or natural light. It can work for a small in-person meeting, but you'll need a different setup if hybrid facilities are essential.

Three ways to lower the cost

  • Compare different times of day. At The Parcel Yard's Station Master's Office, a Tuesday evening starts at £500 minimum spend against £350 for the morning.
  • Compare different days. The Parcel Yard Boardroom is £450 minimum spend for a Tuesday-to-Thursday day and £250 for the same room on a Monday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
  • Consider a per-person package if you need catering. £35 per person for a full day at The Parcel Yard covers room, AV, Wi-Fi, tea and coffee, a sandwich lunch, sides and afternoon treats, with a minimum of eight guests.

If your ceiling is nearer £30 per hour and King's Cross specifically is not essential, Camden and Islington both list rooms from £20–£30 per hour, and Bloomsbury has per-person rates from £9.50.

What size meeting room do you need, and in which layout?

Match the room to the layout you will actually use, not the maximum capacity. The same King's Cross room can seat 18 boardroom-style and 35 theatre-style, and only one of those numbers is relevant to your agenda.

If your event is closer to a conference than a meeting, conference venues in King's Cross are the better starting point.

Which King's Cross meeting rooms are set up for hybrid meetings and presentations?

Wi-Fi and a screen included” is not the same as a hybrid-ready room. For remote attendees, check whether the room lists conference-call facilities, a camera and suitable audio equipment.

Requirement

King's Cross rooms that list it

Conference-call facilities

All four Parcel Yard meeting rooms, The Carriage at Kaya Great Northern Hotel, all four MYO Stables rooms, RIVVIA's Fleet Room

Dedicated hybrid camera

RIVVIA's Fleet Room (Airtame camera); The Carriage (concealable video-conferencing kit)

Projector

All four MYO Stables rooms, the Kingfisher Suite, The Dining Carriage

Flatscreen TV with HDMI

Station Master's Office, First Class Lounge and Dining Carriage; both Kaya rooms; RIVVIA

Whiteboard

Both Kaya rooms, all four MYO Stables rooms, RIVVIA, Frequency

Flipchart

All four Parcel Yard meeting rooms, The Carriage, all four MYO Stables rooms, the Kingfisher Suite

Two gaps are worth checking before you book. No Parcel Yard meeting room lists a projector, although several list fixed HDMI screens. Neither The Mezzanine at Kaya Great Northern Hotel nor the Kingfisher Suite lists conference-call facilities, so confirm what additional equipment is available if you're planning a hybrid meeting.

Which part of King's Cross should you book in?

Where you book in King's Cross mainly affects station access, venue type and the facilities available.

Area

Distance from King's Cross St. Pancras

Book here when

King's Cross Station and Pancras Road

0.1 miles

Attendees are arriving by train or Eurostar and you want zero risk of anyone getting lost. The Parcel Yard is inside the station itself, above the concourse; Kaya Great Northern Hotel and RIVVIA are directly outside.

York Way and the Granary Square side

0.2 miles

You need full AV, step-free access, breakout space and a room for 40–100 – the MYO King's Cross spaces on York Way are the only King's Cross listings offering all four together.

Camley Street and Regent's Canal

0.4 miles

You want a daylight room away from the station crowds. The Kingfisher Suite at Camley Street Natural Park looks onto Regent's Canal and the nature reserve, and can be hired in the daytime without closing the park to the public.

King's Cross Road, WC1X

0.4 miles

Budget is the binding constraint. Frequency King's Cross starts at £30 per hour.

A venue 0.1 miles from the concourse is roughly a two- to three-minute walk, while 0.4 miles is closer to eight to ten minutes. Check the distance on the listing rather than assuming a King's Cross address means the venue is directly beside the station.

Which meeting room suits your type of meeting?

The best room in King's Cross depends on what the meeting has to do.

  • Interviews and one-to-ones – prioritise privacy and quiet. The Parcel Yard Boardroom lists soundproofing, quiet space and natural light, with seating for 12 around one table.
  • Client meetings benefit from a room where reception, catering and accommodation are handled for you. Kaya Great Northern Hotel is a Grade II listed former railway hotel with rooms on site, and The Carriage rates 4.9/5 on Tagvenue.
  • Board meetings and presentations need sightlines and reliable AV. MYO's Project Room 1 combines a projector, PA speakers and conference-call facilities under an exposed-beam roof with a central skylight.
  • Workshops and training need a flexible layout and breakout space. The First Class Lounge can be set at 30 cabaret or 22 U-shape; MYO's Hall can be hired alongside the Auditorium as breakout space.
  • Away days and team sessions can afford to be less formal. The Station Master's Office overlooks platforms 0–7 with original station features retained, and The Games Room is set up for a relaxed, informal session for up to 20.
  • Conferences and panels need theatre seating. MYO's Auditorium has 100 theatre-style seats with integrated AV; the Kingfisher Suite takes 80.

The room was ready earlier than the allocated time, which was very much appreciated, it looked lovely, clean, tidy, everything was in place as expected. The staff were excellent, very friendly, helpful, accomodating. Despite the location in the middle of Kings Cross station, the room is quiet and feels cosy and removed from the crowd. Would definitely recommend.

We hired The Games Room, this was a perfect location as a meeting place for visitors arriving via Eurostar. The pub is quirky, full of character and atmosphere which you don't expect in a railway station. The food is really good, very tasty and reasonably priced. Staff are superb, attentive and helpful. We all enjoyed our time there and will definitely use again.
