The Games Room at The Parcel Yard

The communication with events team could go better. There was a lot of unnecessary back and forth which could have been avoided if everything was explained in the very beginning. For example: I first get asked if I would like to preorder, I say yes, I look at the drinks menu online and spend my time making a choice, get back to the team only to be told drinks from the main menu cannot be preordered, only drinks packages can be. This was not mentioned anywhere, but ok. I then have to ask for the drinks packages menu, cause at no prior point it was sent to me before. This is just one example. I would have appreciated if things like glassware requirements and other arrangements etc. were sorted soon after the booking and not just before the event, because it was stressing me out and I felt like I was being a nuisance by having to ask for every little thing, and I felt that it was the responsibility of the events team to bring it all up and assure me everything will be ready. There were also a few moments where I sensed a bit of a condescending tone and I don't know if it's because this room in the cheapest to book among their choice of the function rooms, which doesn't justify it. For example: I asked to add a corkage fee of £25 to bring a special bottle that we already had at home that was gifted to us. I get the following reply : "We can add a corkage fee however this fee is only for one bottle." I know! That is literally what I said in my request. Another example: I ask how much the minimum spend would be if I were to book the room from early afternoon instead of from 6 to have all day. Instead of just giving me a number, they reply "We already decreased your minimum spend for your evening slot." What was the point of saying that and how was that supposed to make me feel? I did not even ask for the decreased rate by the way. This immediately made me not want to book the room for the entire day (which I regret because once at the venue, everything was great). Overall I felt there was a change of tone right after the booking was secured for some reason, because when I initially enquired, the person was lovely and I even left 5 stars for communication. Weird. Also, please note there is no longer a dartboard in the room despite the description saying so, and even though the booking says "until 23:00" they need you out by 22:45.

We didn't think the room was suitable for kids. Hired because it was a games room but it was darts, a football table (that you had to pay for) and chess board with no pieces. This is absolutely fine for adults but not kids and there wasn't enough room for them to run around in. The staff allowed us to spill out into another room so we had a great day but I'm just leaving this comment in case other parents think it's suitable for kids. At the end of the day, it's a pub which isn't really the best environment for kids anyway. Had a lovely day
