About this space

The Royal Institution Bar is a multi-room bar housed in a historic building and defined by library-style interiors and a curated drinks programme.

Design: The interior pairs deep painted walls, decorative cornices and warm timber floors with tufted leather seating. The fit-out includes framed portraits, built-in bookcase detailing and picture lights that give the spaces a measured, classic appearance.

Features: The venue operates an in-house bar serving cocktails, wine and spirits, with bar food available. The venue provides a PA system and speakers, Wi‑Fi, air conditioning, and permits own music or a hired DJ. The venue has a step-free guest entrance and wheelchair access and benefits from natural daylight.

Ideal for: Small social groups seeking a relaxed, drinks-led evening that can be arranged as seated drinks or a standing reception.

What sets it apart: A set of three separately themed rooms provides distinct atmospheres across the venue, allowing different spaces to be used during a single hire.

What guests say: The venue has attentive, professional staff who support event set-up and service. The space has a relaxed, cosy atmosphere and regular live jazz nights that suit evening socialising.

Wow what a perfect venue. We used the venue for our wedding reception and rented the whole venue. The 3 rooms was perfect to set up for catering, bar and photo booths. The artwork meant we needed minimal decoration as its beautiful as it is. The staff was friendly and made amazing cocktails. We'd certainly recommend and their recommended singer/DJ was fantastic.
