About Shakara
Shakara is a modern West African pop-up restaurant located in Marylebone, offering a selection menu of African cuisine paired with fine mixology. The space features pendant lighting, terracotta tiles inspired by Nigeria’s rich red soil, and abstract artwork from artists associated with The Red Dot Gallery.
Honoring Yoruba heritage, Shakara highlights cultural elements with a sophisticated touch, evident in its logo that features a talking drum motif and its wax-stamped branding. The menu includes small plates such as jerk chicken wings with smoked pineapple and grilled prawns served with Ogbono relish. Specialties for the main course feature dry-aged Hereford beef, Cornish hake, and native blue lobster. For dessert, guests can indulge in plantain bread with vanilla ice cream or coconut panna cotta with papaya. The cocktail selection includes unique offerings like the Jollof Mary (made with gin, apple juice, and grape soju) and the Suya Sour (a mix of chili-infused tequila, kumquat, and pineapple puree).
