About The Butterfly and The Pig

True to the poem that inspired our name; The butterfly and the pig is a love story forged between a graceful butterfly and a clumsy, big-hearted pig. The pig represents our pub and restaurant while the butterfly represents our Tea Rooms and so our general ethos is that the unlikely pair is just as beautiful as the matching one.

Situated in the heart of the City Centre, our carefully restored Georgian townhouse features multiple venues with their own style; comprised of a restaurant, tea room, bar, nightclub and private function rooms we are a “one-stop-shop” for all of your eating and entertainment needs - and have been for almost two decades now.

Our restaurant, located in the basement, serves classic and traditional cuisine made from scratch and sourced locally. The bar is a relaxed space during the day with the evenings full of entertainment and a gantry stocked with Scottish cask ales, beers, whiskey, wine, spirits and cocktails.

The Tea Rooms and private meeting rooms take up the majority of our traditional townhouse. On entering the foyer you’ll find our quaint tearooms serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, with our private dining rooms located up the spiral staircase. Our function rooms vary in size and can accommodate group bookings of 10-50 people, with a variety of menus to suit all tastes and budgets. Whether you’re looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner or afternoon tea - we have a package to suit you.

And if that wasn’t enough, we have a late-night nightclub situated to the rear of our property, where you can finish your evening with a drink The Buff Low Café or dance the night away to funk and soul in The Buff Club. All of our function bookings will receive free entry to the club, perfect for those who aren’t ready to go home just yet!

From dawn til dusk the Butterfly and the Pig offers a professional but unique service that will bring character and charm to your event.
