About this space
CANOA means "canoe" in Spanish an is also an acronym for "Caribbean and New Orleanian Arts. We are a community center at heart!
Space rental comes with three connected areas:
1. Comfy Caribbean library
- 10 - 15 seater area with a coffee table complete with dim lighting, local art, AND books of educational materials, art, history, and geographic tastes curated around the Caribbean and New Orleanian theme.
2. Tabled seating / food area (middle of the venue!)
- Has three 4 seater tables, an exit door out to our driveway, TWO bathrooms, local art, designated space for serving food, and lighting options. This space has a huge black curtain on track that can be drawn completely open to the other half of the main venue hall with stage or used to section off these areas into two different spaces.
3. Main event hall / exhibit / performance area
Features an adjustable stage with lighting options, a big open floor for performance, dance, or art, and a bar area. Where folks gather to celebrate and connect! We also have 2 white walls that can be used for art installation or hanging. A great space for

We ALSO have a back space that can be used as a workshop, prep area, green room, and more! It comes with:
~ A Kitchen - with refrigerator, sink, storage, portable burners, coffee maker, and various utensils and serving equipment.
IF you are approved to use this area please be prepared to tip the building rep on site AND clean all utensils used.
~ An extra bathroom
Birthday parties, concerts, reception celebrations, rehearsal dinners, dance performances, art exhibition, theater productions, poetry readings, fashion shows, Cultural events, Spiritual gatherings, family reunions, and anything else you can dream up! Your rental helps our team support contemporary Caribbean, Creole, and New Orleanian greatness.
