About this space

The Basement is a private Basement in The Whiskey Jar, a self-contained lower-level room that provides a secluded, flexible floorplan for hired events.

Design: The room shows exposed brick walls, low painted ceilings and dark timber columns, with leather sofas and a long wooden bar that create an industrial, restored-mill appearance.

Features: The Basement has its own staffed bar and an open central floor that functions as a dance area, with booth and sofa seating around the perimeter. The space includes Wi-Fi and air conditioning and allows hosts to play their own music or bring an external DJ.

Ideal for: Small private groups seeking a lively, social standing reception or an informal seated evening in a secluded, energetic space.

What sets it apart: The Basement contains a state-of-the-art sound system installed for amplified music and live performance.

What guests say: The Basement has a lively atmosphere and helpful bar staff during private hires. The Basement has occasional issues with unauthorised entry from the adjoining toilet area.

Party · 70 guests · September 2026

Had my 30th here, the booking process was easy and well handled from start to finish, and the event itself was so much fun. The bar staff were lovely and looked after us all very well. The pizzas were unreal and all of my guests enjoyed them. The room itself was really cool and perfect for dancing. Thank you for a gorgeous night!!

The bar staff were amazing and went above and beyond to make sure I had the best time, shout out to Zac, Heather and Tommy! Room is a good size and also well equipped with audio equipment etc, highly recommend.
