A hire fee is a fixed charge for using the venue, while a minimum spend is an amount your group agrees to spend on food and/or drinks. A venue may charge one or the other, so compare what your event will cost in total.
For example, 50 guests spending £20 each would reach a £1,000 minimum spend. With a hire-fee venue, the room charge is generally paid separately from whatever you spend on food and drinks.
