Your Guide to Hiring Party Venues in Manchester

What is the difference between a minimum spend and a hire fee?

A hire fee is a fixed charge for using the venue, while a minimum spend is an amount your group agrees to spend on food and/or drinks. A venue may charge one or the other, so compare what your event will cost in total.

For example, 50 guests spending £20 each would reach a £1,000 minimum spend. With a hire-fee venue, the room charge is generally paid separately from whatever you spend on food and drinks.

Before booking, confirm what counts toward the minimum spend and whether service charge, staffing or other fees are additional.

What are some of the cheapest private party venues in Manchester?

Budget party venues on Tagvenue range from around £500–£1,500 minimum spend, £40–£60 per hour or £150–£750 hire fee per day. Some venues start below these typical ranges.

Current low-cost examples include:

What size private party venue do you need?

Choose a venue based on your event layout as well as your guest count. A space’s maximum capacity may assume a standing event, while seated dining, a buffet, entertainment or a dance floor can reduce the number of guests it comfortably accommodates.

Current Tagvenue pricing averages also vary by venue capacity:

What should you check before booking a private party space?

Before paying a deposit, confirm these nine points:

  1. Total cost. Is the price a hire fee, minimum spend, per-person rate or a combination, and is VAT included?
  2. Additional charges. Ask about service charge, staffing, security, cleaning and any other mandatory fees.
  3. Minimum-spend terms. Confirm what counts toward the minimum and what happens if your group does not reach it.
  4. Food and drink. Check catering rules, cake policies, dietary options and whether outside food or suppliers are permitted.
  5. Music and entertainment. Ask whether you can play your own music or bring a DJ and whether equipment is included.
  6. Timings. Confirm setup access, event start and finish times, music cutoffs and when the room must be cleared.
  7. Capacity and privacy. Check seated versus standing capacity and whether the room, bar or entrance is shared with other guests.
  8. Accessibility. Confirm step-free access, lift access and accessible toilets where required.
  9. Payment and cancellation. Check the deposit, payment schedule, cancellation deadline and refund terms in writing.

Booked Basement Bar at Foundry Project

The basement bar was the perfect venue for the hen do we organised. It's a great sized space for our 30 person event. Jonny was really professional and helpful from first point of enquiry to answering any questions I had along the way. He allowed me to dress the space the day before as there was no private hire on, which made my life so much easier and was much appreciated. The food was lovely - fresh, varied and catered to everyone including Gluten free. The drinks vouchers and really good venue for money. Staff on the night were friendly and helpful. I was really impressed by my first private hire experience. Thank you :)

Booked Cellar Bar at Northern Monk Refectory MCR

I hired this venue for my 30th birthday party in December. While other bars request £2000+ minimum spend, this venue only requests a £50/hour fee. This took away the stress of whether people would spend enough to cover it. The staff were super friendly and helpful throughout and responded to my queries quickly. On the day of my party they let me set up 3 hours in advance and had staff on hand to help where needed. My guests had a fantastic time and the venue was great for live music!

The staff on the night of the event couldn't have been more helpful. There were a couple of things we forgot to bring (e.g. ping pong balls, aux cable) and they went above and beyond to help us sort those. I also appreciated that we didn't have to go back and tidy up after the event since the venue took care of that.

I just wanted to email for you to pass on my thanks to the team at the Gusto for our Private Dining Experience on Saturday 28th October 5:30 onwards. They were immaculate! Their presentation, manner and the room. We had a brilliant day, the food was fresh and on time, the staff were organised and helpful. So thank you for helping organise and also the guys working with us on the day. They made my sister's Hen Party a very special day!

Booked Private Dining Room at Hotel Indigo Manchester - Victoria Station

The communication with Ellie was pristine. I booked whilst in a different country so this was imperative to me. She helped with everything and even called me when it was needed. While on location her colleague showed the room to my friend which was very kind of them. When the day of my event arrived I went to see the room the day before and they really did their best to accommodate my requests and event needs. On the day everything went smoothly. The catering was impeccable and the room cosy and comfy. Lunch was a delicious delight and the staff did their best to help make it a luxurious and memorable experience for everyone involved. Thank you all once again.

Alex was of great help in organising the perfect wedding after party for us. All of our guests had a great time and it was exactly like how we had planned it to be. The entire staff (especially the bar staff) during our event were extremely helpful and they assisted us with all of our requests. We’re thoroughly impressed with the professionalism and dedication portrayed by everyone involved in managing & organising our event. This is the place to be if you want to have the best time with your loved ones! The fun part is you get to have different games so it makes for a great socialising experience as well.
