About this space

Baronial Hall, a Hall in Chetham's Library, is a medieval stone hall defined by its preserved historic fabric.

Design: The hall displays tall sandstone walls and continuous oak panelling punctuated by narrow leaded windows. The flagged stone floor and chandeliers create clear sightlines along the room's length.

Features: The hall is equipped with a PA system and speakers and allows hosts to play their own music. The space includes on-site Wi‑Fi and benefits from daylight through its windows. The room can be arranged for formal seated dining or theatre-style presentations.

Ideal for: Societies and corporate groups seeking a formal seated dinner or a polished presentation in a compact, historic setting.

What sets it apart: An intact 15th-century timber roof and an original carved stone fireplace give the room genuine medieval authenticity.

What guests say: The space is atmospheric, evocative and carefully maintained.
