Disco Venues for Hire in London

FAQs about Top Disco Venues in London

In London, disco venues are priced in several different ways. The most popular model is minimum spend, which obliges you to spend an agreed amount of money at the venue and is a great cheap hire option! You can find a minimum spend starting at £50 per evening, but the costs depend on the size of the venue and time of your event and can reach even £35,000. If, however, you wish to book a venue that charges hire fees expect to pay anywhere from £150 to £10,000 per session or £30-£500 per hour. You can also encounter disco venues that offer per person packages, most of which will cost you between £30 and £100 per person. (All data from Tagvenue.)

All disco venues have one common characteristic - dancing. So, in short, any event that involves some twirling and bopping is welcome there! Discos are great for birthday parties, even those for teenagers and children (so that they can finally get rid of some of their excess energy), but other occasions can also be celebrated with dancing. Some great ideas would be hen and stag nights or New Years parties. You can always just throw a party for no specific reason - raves and themed nights, especially 70s or 80s themed, work great in disco spots! Looking for a way to unwind and let loose after a tough day at the office? Take your after-work drinks to the next level with some great beats. The dance floor is waiting for you!

Here’s a handy guide to make your next party planning a breeze:

  1. Start with the details. Make sure you know how many people are coming and when exactly you want to throw a party.
  2. Figure out the location. A vibrant spot in Shoreditch, a buzzing club in The City or a hidden gem away from the centre? The choice is yours, just make sure it’s convenient and accessible!
  3. Move on to your wants. A real disco ball? The possibility of playing your own music? BYO alcohol? Lounge seats? Make a list of your requirements for a dream disco venue.
  4. Begin the search. Enter all your needs and details into the Tagvenue smart search filters to narrow down the selection and create a shortlist of your favourite spots.
  5. Enquire. Finally, you can fill out the enquiry form for your selected spot and wait for the venue manager to get back to you!

Good luck!

How to Plan your Event at Disco Venues

Crafting a disco event in London is an exciting journey into one of the most energetic cultural scenes in the world! With its long history of music and nightlife, London offers an array of venues that can make your disco an unforgettable night full of dance and laughter. Here’s a guide to ensure your disco event stands out as a highlight in the city’s rich event calendar!

  • Selecting the Perfect Venue: Look for venues with spacious dance floors, quality sound systems, and atmospheric lighting to create that quintessential disco vibe. Areas like Soho, Camden, and Shoreditch are packed with lovely spots that range from underground nightclubs to lavish halls.
  • Mastering the Music Mix: Curate a playlist with classic disco hits from the 70s and 80s mixed with modern tunes that keep the energy high. Consider hiring a DJ specialising in disco music or even a live band that can bring classic tracks to life.
  • Theme and Decor: Think mirror balls, neon lights, and vivid colour palettes. Use interactive elements like a photo booth with retro props or even a roller skating area to add a funny twist. Customising the venue to reflect the disco theme will transport your guests back in time.
  • Dress Code: From sequined dresses to bell-bottom trousers, the fashion of the disco era is a fun way for attendees to engage with the theme. You could even host a costume contest to reward the most dazzling outfits.
  • Engaging Entertainment: Aside from dancing, offer entertainment that complements the disco theme. A dance-off or a performance by professional dancers can energise the crowd. Workshops on disco dance moves are entertaining and get everyone moving in sync.
  • Food and Drink: Craft a menu that pays homage to the 70s and 80s. Think elegant canapés, classic cocktails with a modern twist, and perhaps a fondue station for a touch of nostalgia. Ensure there are options for all dietary preferences to keep everyone satisfied!
  • Promotion and Invitations: Create buzz around your event with creative invitations and social media campaigns, especially if you’re planning a ticketed London party. Use cool graphics and iconic disco imagery to capture the essence of your event. Leverage local event listings and networks to reach a wider audience.
  • Logistics and Comfort: Ensure your venue is accessible and has adequate facilities to accommodate your guests comfortably. Plan for coat checks, ample seating for breaks, and clearly marked emergency exits. Consider the flow of people around the venue to avoid overcrowding in any area.
  • Capture the Moment: Hire a photographer or set up a dedicated hashtag for social media to capture the memories of your disco event. These moments are sure to be cherished by your guests and serve as fantastic promotional material for future events.

Let the preparations begin, and get ready to boogie the night away!

Booked The Boudoir Bar at Bar Soho
5.0
Premier Central London Soho location. Great communication with the team there. Great sound system, food and drink. Very helpful set up with cinema projector allowing a slide show through the whole night. Great party space with different areas. Option to go downstairs to Bar Soho. Personally looked after during the event (water and fed). Security kept the night only for my guests - has a separate entrance. Friendly staff, very efficient with the bartender delivering an impromptu singing set that was amazing 🤩. Thanks for a memorable 50th - partied like it was the 90’s 🙏🏾👊🏾

I had my mum's 70th birthday party here and from the hiring the staff were welcoming and helpful. On the day of the event the staff on sight were once again very helpful making sure I had all that I needed and if I needed any help throughout the night. My guests also committed on how the staff were nice. The venue was very clean and tidy especially the toilets and kitchen. Very family friendly and also wheelchair accessible. The drinks they had on offer where also very reasonable I would for sure use this venue again and afrw guests are also considering using it. We'll worth it

Booked The JubJub at Callooh Callay Shoreditch
4.8
I had my 30th birthday party in the Jubjub room and from booking it all the way through to the end of the night, the staff were absolutely phenomenal. Communication with the team before the night was fantastic, they were so organised. When I arrived the team were so welcoming, professional and on the ball, which was exactly what I needed as I haven't hosted an event like this before and was quite stressed about it! They were on hand throughout the night, helping with music, food and cake and so accommodating with any requests made. They were genuinely such warm and kind people and that in itself really makes a difference. Our barman was brilliant (unfortunately I can't remember his name!) but he was so cool under pressure and wonderful to my guests all night. His cocktails were brilliant and the guests loved them. The room was perfect. A great size for 35-40 guests and had plenty of seating and tables. I would 100% hire this venue again, and my guests kept commenting on how great they thought it was.

Booked Dining Room at Lockhouse
4.2
Great venue for a drinks and dinner party. Good value for money. The management staff were very nice and accommodating of changes to the group size, and last minute orders of food from a few guests. The setting is stunning especially with the Christmas lights. The chairs with vinyl and material covers were great and comfortable. There was no drinks special to begin with this year. The menu was great and several of the guests commented on what a great selection of food. When the food arrived it was just as described on the menu, delicious , plentiful, and great plating. Everyone enjoyed their food.

Booked The BSMT at The Ladybird Bar

Organised a surprise 30th birthday party for my boyfriend and the party was a huge success! The venue looked super cool and was a good size for 60 people. I wanted the party to have a club vibe and it definitely did, as there was a DJ booth and bar. Setting up the sound equipment was straightforward for my DJ friends and the sound quality was good, so many people were dancing just like I had hoped. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was allowed to bring a cake and provide finger food (i..e crisps) for the guests, and also decorate the area with a few balloones. I also paid a fee for all the guests to receive one free cocktail, which they all loved. The location was also great. Central and very easy to get to from the tube station. Would highly recommend this venue for a big private private party.

Booked Whole Venue at Patch East
5.0
We had a birthday party at Patch East. The whole team made it a joy to organise. Jose and his team were very helpful and flexible in the run-up and great hosts on the night. Love that it included our own free serviced coat room. The food was very tasty too. Perfect space for a big party as it's big enough to allow people to disperse a bit, but at the same time it's open enough that you still feel part of it all, no matter where you are. Some were dancing all night while others were catching up in the lounges on the sides. We had a fabulous time.

Booked Mala Madre Events Space at The Last Talisman
5.0
We can’t thank Dovile and Cecile enough for their help in planning our engagement party. From as soon as we enquired, they have replied promptly, clearly and were always on hand if we had any questions. We booked Mala Madre just from the pictures and we weren’t disappointed - it really is as good as it looks. Our guests commented on how nice the venue was as well as on how good the food and cocktails were. Costa, the manager on the day, also deserves a special shout out. He was very welcoming and had a great sense of humour. There was a technical issue with the sound system and he sorted this out quickly. I highly recommend booking here for your events. It’s a lovely, intimate space and we had a great time.

Booked The Blue Room at Dirty Martini St. Paul's
4.6
Daughter and friends had a great time on 23 March. They thought the food was great, loved the cocktails and enjoyed the music and the dance floor. We popped in briefly towards the start of their evening, just to make sure all was going well. The manager came and introduced himself, which we appreciated, but the DM staff clearly had everything well in hand so we didn’t feel the need to stay. Female bar tender up in the party room went out of her way to make sure the birthday girl was comfortable being in charge of a bar tab, taught her how to mix her own birthday cocktail and was generally "just amazing".
