About this space

Alex Theatre is an Art Deco performance venue dating from 1925 whose defining feature is its richly detailed historic auditorium.

Design: The auditorium has curved, raked seating, a deep proscenium with red stage curtains, decorative plasterwork and a high coved ceiling punctuated by indirect lighting; patterned carpet and upholstered seats create a formal theatrical interior.

Features: The venue includes a full stage behind a proscenium, house stage lighting and a PA system with speakers. The venue permits external music sources, provides a cleared area suitable for dancing, and includes wheelchair access and accessible toilets.

Ideal for: Hosts seeking a formal, seated performance or presentation setting in a historic theatre with clear sightlines.

What guests say: The foyer is grand and visually well preserved. The auditorium can run warm during events and upper-level seating involves climbing multiple flights of stairs.
