About this space

Our studios are available for hire and suit all kinds of dance events—classes, workshops, and more. Combined with the theatre, the studios also work well as changing rooms, catering areas and breakout spaces.

The Seafront Studio

Located on the ground floor. It has a double height ceiling, air conditioning and plenty of natural light. This space has large mirrors, as well as a powerful sound system with easy connection via Blu Tooth. The sprung dance floor has a vinyl covering. The studio is next to the Ocean Theatre. The Seafront Studio is 9.25 x 16.12m and has a capacity of 30 for dancing or 50 seated.

Host rules

Based on your proposed event, we can be more specific. But please be advised that our spaces are primarily used and were designed for contemporary dance practice and so have specialised dance floors. Therefore some activities may not be suitable in our spaces based on footwear, furniture or equipment bought in. Some activities may require more information about sound levels so as not to cause disruption to concurrent events. We may ask for a copy of Public Liability Insurance, a Risk Assessment and where appropriate a Safeguarding Policy.

About Pavilion Dance South West

Pavilion Dance is an arts centre specialising in dance. Our three spaces include a 180 seat theatre and two studios plus backstage spaces including dressing rooms and a meeting space. We hire our spaces to clients for dance events, festivals, conferences, meetings, film screenings and more.

Our building is a few meters from Bournemouth Seafront overlooking Bournemouth Gardens. We are a few minutes’ walk from the heart of Bournemouth Town Centre with plenty of parking nearby.

As experts in event management, we have a team who can help your event to run smoothy. Our services include ticketing, front of house and technical management. We are a charity and all hires income goes straight back into our work supporting people to dance.
