At its heart, sits a collection of country estates and ancestral family seats that have stood the test of time - each with a long tradition of welcoming and entertaining guests, from Winston Churchill to King Edward VII.
There has been an estate at Wokefield since the first house was built in the 1560s for the wealthy Plowden family. Set in 250 acres of Berkshire parkland, its history is etched in the different architectural features that greet you throughout.
Now De Vere Wokefield Estate, the hotel has been completely transformed following a £20 million restoration throughout whether you choose to stay at Wokefield Place, Wellington Lodge or the estate's historic Mansion House.
A high-tech dedicated conference building, Wokefield Place has been refurbished and kitted out with all the AV and technology you need.
Once again, the heart of the estate, the historic Mansion House has had a complete makeover and now offers 87 guestrooms, including 12 luxury suites, along with the restoration of a number of event spaces including the pillared Terrace Suite.
Outside, you’ll find an 18-hole PGA-standard golf course and outdoor activity course in the grounds. There is also a fully equipped gym and indoor swimming pool available daily for guests to use.
The hotel is located just south-west of London, close to Reading, and is easily accessible from the M4 at J11, which is just 10 minutes away. Heathrow Airport is also just 40 minutes away. The new Elizabeth Line takes you into London Paddington in just 50 minutes, with up to six trains an hour departing from Reading station.
