About this space

Cafe Area is a semi-private cafe area in Xplore! Science Discovery Centre that functions as a practical communal dining zone and explicitly accommodates brought-in packed lunches.

Design: The space has a high industrial ceiling, exposed metal ductwork and timber-clad partitions that create a practical, workshop-style interior. The lighting combines pendant lamps and ample daylight, and the open plan preserves clear sightlines across the seating area.

Features: A small counter serves hot drinks and a limited café menu alongside a bank of communal tables and bench seating suited to groups. The space includes complimentary Wi‑Fi and air conditioning, and hosts are permitted to play their own music. The area is wheelchair accessible and supported by accessible toilets and a step-free guest entrance.

Ideal for: Families and mixed-age groups seeking a relaxed, informal seated dining or break area during a visit.

What guests say: The space is family-friendly and inclusive, and its staff provide helpful, knowledgeable support around the hands-on exhibits.
