About this space

Butterfly Lovers Pavilion is a semi-private pavilion in RHS Garden Wisley notable for its ornate Chinese-style timber structure and open plan.

Design: The structure presents a low, multi-tiered tiled roof and turned wooden columns that create an open, sheltered circle. The space receives abundant natural light and is enclosed by dense planting that filters sunlight and frames sightlines.

Features: The pavilion contains fixed bench seating and an open floor that supports small, sheltered gatherings. The space has step-free guest access and is wheelchair accessible, and it benefits from plentiful daylight and easy pedestrian access from nearby garden paths.

Ideal for: Small groups seeking a relaxed, seated or conversational gathering in a sheltered garden setting.

What sets it apart: The pavilion sits directly beside a reflective pond, providing a sheltered waterside setting that frames views of surrounding planting.

What guests say: The surrounding garden is praised for richly curated planting, seasonal colour and a tranquil atmosphere that enhances time spent in its garden structures.
