What to Consider When Booking a Private Bar in Sydney

  • Location
Stay central for convenience—bars in the CBD, Darlinghurst, or The Rocks are all within easy reach of major train stations. Looking for something scenic? Opt for bars near the Harbour or beachfront spots in Bondi.
  • Capacity
Match the space to your guest list. Intimate bars in Newtown suit smaller gatherings, while larger venues in Barangaroo or Pyrmont work for big groups or company events.
  • Food & Drinks
Many venues offer custom menus or canapé packages. Ask about vegan or gluten-free options if needed. Some private bars also allow BYOB or external catering, especially useful for budget-conscious events.
  • Entertainment & Ambience
Check sound limits, music licences, and late-night policies. Some venues offer dance floors, AV equipment, or screens for presentations or sports viewings.
  • Accessibility
If you have guests with mobility needs, look for venues with step-free access or lifts—many modern CBD bars are well-equipped.

Booked The Chapel at Greenwood Hotel
4.7
A great location for a big Corporate party - Meline was super responsive and helpful in the lead up to the event, and then the party itself was so much fun. The Chapel and adjoining courtyards were a fantastic, self-contained space. We were allowed to decorate and bring in our own photobooth. The food was abundant - it just kept coming - this is really unusual at these large events!! Meline accommodated our many dietary requirements and everything was delicious, with the paella station being a particular hit. Thank you Greenwood for hosting us - we will be back!

Hired the Terrace Rooftop at the Belvedere for a casual corporate function. Can't say enough positives about the Venue and the Staff. Amelia was super helpful with the coordination of our event, easy to deal with and very responsive. The staff on the night were soo lovely and super helpful and attentive. Everyone at the function raved about the food (which is always super important!!!). Facilities were all that you would need for a good night out!
