About Temperance House - Bristol

Temperance House is a beautifully restored Grade II Listed Building in Wraxall, close to Bristol and on the edge of the Tyntesfield Estate, steeped in history.

Between 1880-1881 Temperance House was designed by William Butterfield for Anthony Gibbs of Tyntesfield and was built in 1882. Over the years the building has served as a Temperence House, the village hall, caretakers house, and the estate office. Most recently is remembered for being a public house, the Widdicombe Arms through the 1970s and 1980s, and more recently The Battleaxes which holds lots of memories for many local people.

Just a short distance away, the lively city of Bristol offers a rich mix of culture, today it provides a refreshing alternative to corporate spaces
