About this space
The Ballroom is located upstairs and is licenced to hold up to 200 people, depending on your layout. The Fishpond and its Ballroom dates back to the early 1800’s where it was originally the stables for the neighbouring hotel. Early bus tours or “Charabancs” used to operate from outside our ballroom. In the early 1920’s The Fishpond was converted into a watering hole and the stable block transformed into a beautiful ballroom.
Today the Ballroom features a beautiful vaulted ceiling, log burner, private toilet facilities, a bar, and a wonderful wooden dance floor.
The Raft Dining Room floats neatly on The Fishpond at Matlock Bath and retains many of the historic buildings original features. Its the perfect place to unwind or celebrate with friends and family. The Raft is very popular for wedding ceremonies, due to the oak beamed vaulted ceiling, but it works equally well for smaller wedding breakfasts and when hired in conjunction with the ballroom as an additional reception room.
Our beautiful dining room is available for exclusive hire and for private dining with groups of 12 or more. With a capacity of up to 80 people, depending on your layout it makes the perfect room for meetings, large gatherings, special dinner events, drinks receptions and weddings.
Adjoining the raft room is a beautiful terrace which benefits from the sun in the warmer months, making it ideal for post ceremony receptions and early evening gatherings.

About The Fishpond
The Fishpond itself has everything a discerning couple could possibly need. From the moment you enter this cosy pub you are welcomed by the friendly team, who ensure that you and your guests are having a fabulous time.
Unlike other freehouse wedding venues we are a pub at heart, and this means that we remain open to other customers during all of our weddings. Many have commented that this actually adds to the vibrancy and atmosphere of the day, but if you prefer a quiet affair then our other multipurpose rooms offer complete privacy when needed.
Guests of our establishment are not only offered a dynamic place to gather and mingle, but also a place to participate in the entertainment through interactive events, celebrations, and live music.
