Host rules

We are very flexible and will try to accommodate all your requirements within reason.

In the event of cancellation by the client, the company reserves the right to charge the following cancellation fees:

1.1. If cancellation is effected three calendar weeks or less prior to the event, the 30% deposit payment will be due.

1.2. If cancellation is effected two calendar weeks or less prior to the event, the full minimum spend will be due. If booking falls between November 20th and December 20th, cancelation notice is 6 weeks.

1.3. In addition, any fees charged to the company in respect of bookings made on the client’s behalf in connection with the Event will be payable in full by the client.

Alex and Liese were extremely helpful and informative during the booking and preparation process. The venue itself looks cool, a great space in a great location.

I made a booking, and paid the minimum spend, for the whole venue and didn't find out until visiting that actually they had already taken a booking for part of the space - it was fine in the end as our numbers didn't need the extra space, but it would be helpful to keep your listing up to date so people know what they're getting. Unfortunately the service on the day was chaotic, and some of the elements we discussed as being available for us (an ipad for controlling music, microphone for speeches) were actually not available. It was a struggle to make the music work at all, and control of this was only possible from upstairs (i.e. away from the main space) which really ruined the vibe. Despite discussing the catering at length during the planning, the food was poorly presented: canape style foods piled up in bowls left to go soggy/squashed, and there was no labelling for the veggie/vegan options. We also had other staff constantly pushing through groups of our guests to get in and out of the back, I assume the kitchen, which felt a bit uncomfortable. Again, this was advertised as a whole venue booking and I was looking for a private space, which just isn't possible if non-serving staff need to keep going through.

About Callooh Callay Shoreditch

Callooh Callay opened in November 2008. At the time, cocktail bars in Shoreditch were few and far between. A venue which delivers high quality drinks and service, but without any of the pretension that came along with those things in 2008. We wanted to do things a little differently with our design and with our menus, for which we have become pretty famous.

In the last 12 years we've been very lucky to have made drinks for, and served, hundreds of thousands of guests. We've been even luckier to win an award or 2 from our peers along the way. We were named Best International High Volume Cocktail Bar at Tales of the Cocktail 2016, Worlds Best Cocktail Menu in 2012 and have been named in Drinks International's World's 50 Best Bars in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016.
