About this space

The Etcetera Theatre is a small fringe theatre defined by a tight, intimate performance space that brings audience and performers into close proximity.

Design: The interior is compact and functional, arranged as a simple black-box that keeps sightlines short and the action close to the room. The space favours an unpolished, informal theatrical character rather than a traditional raked auditorium.

Features: A PA system and speakers are installed, and hosts may play their own music or bring a DJ. The venue provides Wi‑Fi and air conditioning, and a basic theatrical lighting rig is in place. The layout is flexible and can be arranged for close seating or an open performance area.

Ideal for: Small groups seeking an intimate, performance-led setting for seated presentations or closely staged activity and relaxed social interaction.

What sets it apart: The theatre's programme centres on new writing and early previews, giving emerging playwrights a regular platform for experimental work.

What guests say: The space is intimate and welcoming, producing a close connection between audience and performers. The venue's front-of-house service and theatrical lighting have received mixed feedback.

I couldn’t have asked for a better venue to host my costumed themed drawing class! I was so amazed when i stepped foot into the space. I was initially a little worried from the photos that there might not be enough space, but in reality the venue is much bigger than it appears, with plenty of room for everyone to work comfortably. The long theatre style benches suited our setup perfectly and made the whole session feel very well organised. A major requirement for me was having a decent dressing room for the model, and this venue absolutely delivered. I also want to mention how helpful and friendly the staff member was who explained everything clearly and showed me around the space before the session started, which immediately put me at ease. Everything came together seamlessly, creating a relaxed and focused atmosphere, and the class was a complete success. This has easily been my favourite venue I’ve used for my art classes and will definitely be my go to option going forward. Everyone who attended commented on how much they liked the space. I would highly recommend this venue for any creative workshop or group activity.
nothing it was perfect!

Space and facilities met our needs perfectly. We used this space to film a music video and we were able to use the space efficiently. Roy was on hand to assist with any queries about lighting and equipment that we needed.
