East London Venues Hire Guide

Looking for the perfect photography studio in East London, but don’t know where to start? First, make sure you have your vision set - this will help you pick the space most suitable for you. Will it be a photoshoot with a simple white backdrop in Stratford, or are you looking for a funky studio with a lot of personality around the East End? Check out Aquifer Film Studio near Fish Island for a modern space with high tech amenities. A little closer towards Whitechapel, you can find studios in even greater numbers, such as 3 Perseverance Works, which can offer you a range of equipment and accommodations for a half or full-day shoot.

When planning to hire a photography studio there are certain things you should keep in mind.

  • Do you have everything you need? There are some studios that are prepared to offer backdrops, strobes or other types of photography equipment for an extra fee. Some even offer catering or have on-site kitchens.
  • Read the fine print. Make sure you are clear on all the finer points of the contract you sign. Are there clear entry and exit procedures, or is there any indication of what to do in case of breakage? Be careful that the venue is committed to being responsive to problems that could interfere with your creative process.
  • Find the right place. Consider if there are any location-specific needs that you might have. Will you need parking, for example, or perhaps you require a loading dock for your equipment or backdrops?
  • Understand the offer. Make sure you agree on any extras before signing. If any sort of deals are offered, make sure you have them in writing.

The most popular pricing model in East London for photo studios is hire fee per hour, which ranges between £20 and £200.

FAQs about Photo Studios in East London

What to look for when hiring a photo studio in East London?

When looking for photo studios in East London there are a couple of things you might want to consider before you book:

  • Where is the studio located? Is it in an area that’s convenient for you and your crew to get to? Is it close to another space that you’re planning to hire, or where you wish to go and shoot some photos?
  • Does it fit within your budget? Make sure you know how much you’re willing to spend, also remember about getting insurance, paying your crew and any other extra fees that may show up later on.
  • What equipment does the space offer? Will you need anything extra besides the backdrop, lights and, perhaps, WiFi? A lot of spaces include the additional equipment in the price. Make sure to check it out!
  • Does the studio theme fit with your photo shoot? A blank studio is the typical go-to, but maybe you’d also like to book a space which is unique–in that case does the overall theme fit with your photos?

Do I need insurance when booking a photo studio in East London?

The answer is always–yes. Insurance will make sure you are covered in case of any mishaps, and you’ll have one less thing to worry about when hiring the space. Accidents can always happen, and it’s better to be safe than sorry. Check out what insurance companies can offer you and choose the best offer that will suit your needs.

How much do photo studios in East London cost?

The good news is that photo studios in East London can be booked for quite an affordable price if you’re on a tight budget. Check out venues for as little as £28 per hour, and maybe even less if you’ve got good negotiating skills. As for the more expensive options, you’ll find some venues with prices over £100 per hour. Make sure to check how much you can spend before booking the venue, and calculate how much time you will need inside the studio. We also recommend booking an additional hour in case you go overtime. It’s always better to have some extra time rather than too little! (All data from Tagvenue.)

Booked Photography and Film at Corridor Studio
Really really good shoot we had at Corridor studio. Toks was extremely helpful and professional. It was our first shoot and without even asking he briefed us in terms the essential things to consider, not to mention providing great advice in terms of posing and he really knew what he was doing. Highly recommend the studio and his photography services.

Booked Photography and Film Studio at Mons Studio Warehouse
The host was very helpful and knowledgeable with the lighting aspects and had all the equipment needed. The studio its self was a very beautiful space, with a spacious changing room, a steamer for clothes. Kitchen amenities. I am very impressed with the service I received and would definitely be using again and recommending to others.

Easy to find though few minutes walk from the station. Exactly as the photos - do read disclaimer about furniture changes. Lovely welcome from Nadia. Google speaker - I didn't remember my music/ speaker until I was already making my way to the studio! Lighting available. Buzzer entry. Clean. Reasonably priced parking fees.

Very nice studio that provides all the necessary equipment for basic studio shoots, which was just what we needed. We had no problem running any of the equipment and had a great shoot overall. The addition of a TV with airplay was nice for casting picture previews on it as we go along and bluetooth speakers were nice for creating a good vibe. The hosts were useful in getting us up and going too. Highly recommended!

Amazing, so so easy. There was no faff, the wonderful Lewis came and asked if we needed anything, then he plugged in the lights and off we went. They had a speaker and there was bottled water available also. The studio was very bright, clean and I will be using it again in the future! Highly recommend

Quina was super helpful, helping with getting the lights and gels ready and being very accommodating with any requests I had. The studio is a home set up so is quite cosy, but it’s been arranged in such a way that there is plenty of space particularly for portraits/ fashion shoots etc. There’s a kitchen at the studio for teas and coffees, but if you want food during the shoot there’s lots of take away/ food stands across the street I’ll defo be coming back again

Booked Photography Studio at Peanut Factory Studio
I cannot recommend 'Peanut Factory Studio' enough. Such an amazing space with brilliant natural light and beautiful plants/props for set dressing. Tom was very welcoming and made sure everything went smoothly on our shoot. The location is perfect for filming/photography in Hackney Wick. Along with good access for getting equipment in and set up. Was very impressed with the location and will certainly be utilising the space many more times in the future.
