Popular Types of Creative Spaces in Toronto

  • Blank canvas studios – These open, flexible spaces are perfect if you want full control over lighting, layout, and decor. Ideal for photo shoots, pop-ups, and installations.
  • Photo and film studios – Often come equipped with lighting rigs, backdrops, props, and even camera rentals. Great for commercial shoots or portfolio work.
  • Art galleries – Chic and polished, galleries make excellent workshop or exhibition spaces. Many are walkable from Kensington Market and Queen West.
  • Workshop venues – Spacious and functional, suited for classes, creative team sessions, or product design days.
  • Dance and movement studios – Wide open floors, mirrors, and lots of natural light—perfect not just for dance but for any project needing room to move.

What to Consider When Booking a Studio

  • Size and layout – Be realistic about how much space you need. A photoshoot with gear or an art installation may require more room than expected.
  • Included equipment – Many creative spaces offer lighting kits, seating, easels, or sound systems—some even rent cameras or projectors.
  • Accessibility – If you're expecting guests or collaborators, make sure the venue has wheelchair access or is close to TTC stations.
  • Budget – Studio prices vary widely. Tagvenue helps you filter by hourly rate, minimum spend, and included amenities to stay on track.
  • Vibe and setting – Don’t underestimate the backdrop. A venue’s aesthetic can double as a set, making your final product stronger without extra design costs.

Location is perfect. Very convenient to shipping equipment there. Huge parking lot is in front of the studio. Easy to park. Interia decoration are colourish and aesthetically good. Noisy isolation are good. Big window and great sunlight. Curtain is thick and enough to isolate sunlight if you want the room dark. Very good place to film and sound record.

Amazing venue with everything needed for a proposal to my girlfriend. The host was very responsive and detailed in terms of studio rules, dates/times available and for catering to what was needed for the event. The staff member present at the time, Chantale, was incredibly helpful and kind, and made the experience even better.
