About Yellow House Gallery Potts Point

57–59 Macleay Street in Potts Point boasts a rich artistic history.

The Yellow House gallery, purpose-built for exhibitions, features high-quality track lighting, air-conditioning, and AV cabling across its two integrated levels: the ground level, approximately 180 sqm, and the lower ground, approximately 130 sqm.

The space is enhanced by a striking retractable roof window, and at the gallery's entrance, a large secure 'lightbox' provides a platform for promoting exhibitions to the bustling Macleay Street. Adjacent to the gallery, the award-winning 'Yellow Restaurant' and popular dining establishments like Bistro916 and Fratelli Paradiso make event catering seamless.

The venue's history is noteworthy. In the 1950s, it served as an art gallery, showcasing works by John Olsen, Robert Hughes, and Robert Klippel, among others. In the early 1970s, contemporary illustrator Martin Sharp transformed the space into a collaborative artist's movement known as The Yellow House Artists Collective. Artists such as Brett Whiteley, George Gittoes, Bruce Goold, Peter Weir, Philip Noyce, Albie Thoms, Aggie Read, and more collaborated and displayed a diverse range of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, films, and interactive art projects.
