About Louise & Jerry's
Louise & Jerry's is a Tagvenue Partner. This business has registered with Tagvenue and agreed to our venue partner standards.
The building was initially a hotel in the 1880s, and later on, it changed its name to The Old Neerlandia and became a Dutch sailor’s bar. In the year 1958, the bar was taken over by Louise and Jerry who, in a very short time, made the place a darling among the locals. The bar—the way it was at that time, a potbelly stove with planks on top of barrels—was bought from the Schaeffer family and wheeled into Louise & Jerry’s by dolly.
Over the years, the bar was always a true family-run business. In 1970, Louise took over bartending and she was running the establishment with a strict but memorable style, while her husband had quit due to health problems.
The next generation continued the legacy: Anthony “Rocky” Romano introduced modern comforts like cable television, an ice machine, and air conditioning. After his death in 1998, the bride kept the bar till 2005, and in 2010, the new owner took over the loved place.
Now, the bar is a witness to the family’s commitment, the local community’s patronage, and the place’s nostalgia that lasted for decades showcasing to the visitors its rich history.
