This cool, minimalist space is perfect for workshops, business events, and private celebrations. Your rental includes tables and chairs for up to 100 people, plus a podium for speakers or presenters. If you’re planning a celebration, choose a more party-ready set up with optional sound system, and we’ll arrange everything around the center dance floor.
The SoHo Room is located inside HI New York City hostel, which occupies one of the city’s last remaining buildings designed by “the Architect of the Gilded Age,” Richard Morris Hunt. Often described as “castle-like,” the enormous red brick building sits at 103rd and Amsterdam with easy access to the 1/2/3 and A/B/C subway lines. The hostel is run by Hostelling International USA (HI USA), a nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting peace through travel. By booking your event with us, you support our travel scholarships, cultural exchanges, and other educational programming.
While entrance to the SoHo Room is through the hostel lobby, your guests enjoy exclusive access to the SoHo Room and its dedicated private restroom.

Host rules
· No smoking in the building
· Outside catering is allowed
· No smoke machines, bubble machines, pyrotechnic machines or set-ups, glitter, silly string, or any other device that would be harmful to the facility
· All events are over by 11pm
· All guests of function must enter through the lobby and remain in the room rented only. No loitering anywhere inside or outside the facility.
· The DJ/band’s music must be played at a volume commensurate with how many people are in the space. Management reserves the right to request that the music be lowered should other Guests complain. If the music is not sufficiently lowered, management reserves the right to stop the party with no refund for the unused portion of time.
· Function room (s) may be decorated up to 2 hours prior to the event, based on availability. If there is another event happening prior to your function, you will be allowed 1 hour to complete your set-up. Only masking tape may be used (no staples, cellophane tape, nails etc.).
· Client is responsible for providing a security deposit in the amount of $300 via cash or credit card, which will be processed (2-5 days after the function) as a refund (in the same form of payment the funds were received) if the room is returned as found at the beginning of function.
· Client is responsible for purchasing Event Liability Insurance to cover their date of event, and HI NYC must be named as an additional insured under the certificate of liability.
Cancellation policy: Standard 30 day with Grace Period
