Classroom with TV Wall at Gymnopedie
About this space
This is a set of seven rooms, totaling 1880 square feet, available for photo and film shoots, as well as rehearsals and small events.
The Classroom contains a chalkboard, always stocked with new white and colored chalk and an eraser. Feel free to erase and draw your own creations. Two of the walls are beautifully aged with revealed bricks peeking out beneath a retro blue paint job. We've outfitted the Classroom with 12 school desks, a teacher's desk with a globe, and a shelf with school books.
The Back Hall features our TV Wall.
At the end of the hall is our Clock Staircase, lined from bottom to top with various clocks while paper umbrellas hang from the ceiling.
Branching off the hall is the Safe Room. As an add-on, the safe room can be filled with money like the photograph. By default, it comes with the box safe and empty shelves only.
String lights add beauty and mood to our Backyard after sunset. Our new wooden fence serves as a beautiful backdrop.
The Hall of Lamps is filled with a forest of floor lamps, which you can arrange or hide as you see fit. Numerous ceiling lamps hang above, which are controlled by a dimmer.
The TV wall is made of 21 TVs. Most of the TVs can feature your custom video or still image. This image is transmitted via our laptop, which is connected to our wifi network. If you have no image in mind, the TVs can display static.
The Classroom is equipped with a 15,000 BTU Frigidaire window air conditioner to keep you cool in the summer and a 10000W Dr. Heater to keep you cozy all winter.

Host rules
We have a strict no smoking policy. This includes cigarettes, marijuana, and hookahs. We prefer that our guests take a walk around the block while they smoke.
Because we're located beneath a church in a residential neighborhood, it's better if guests do not hang out in large groups on the sidewalk for extended periods of time. If you can encourage your guests to either be inside or coming or going, that's great.
We decline to book most high energy, late night parties and dance parties, although we're open to discussing events that you think will fit our needs. We prefer to book gatherings with mellow daytime energy, such as a fancy dinner gala or a film screening.
Unless we've otherwise arranged, we expect you to return our venue to us as you found it. This includes cleaning all garbage and bringing full garbage bags to the curb.

Gymnopedie is a 5500 square foot arts venue in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
Located in the basement of Bushwick United Methodist Church, the rooms have been restored after 40 years of inactivity.
Our historic Gymnasium, Locker Room, and Classroom are now available for your music video shoots, film shoots, dance shoots, fashion shoots, and events.
