The Basement Speakeasy at Apples & Pears

Easy five stars. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience hosting my 40th birthday party for c40 guests. Communication with Kim about booking, admin, key info etc was friendly, professional helpful and speedy. Really make planning a breeze. Reggie looked after us on arrival and made me feel very welcome and explained everything. The basement bar has such good vibes. It’s big enough so when we had like 50 people at the peak there was plenty of space, but because of the layout (bar in the middle, dancing and seating front and back) it meant towards the end with only 15 people it still felt busy as we were all in the front area. DJ equipment was complete and easy for my DJs to plug into. Full information on what’s provided was shared in advance. Sound system was good and I felt like it was better than upstairs actually. Bar staff were super professional and friendly. Went above and beyond for example helping us to blow up a fiddly individual letter happy birthday banner. Real can do attitude and I think they went a long way to making the vibe nice. The cocktails were delicious. I was discreetly kept informed about how much was left on my tab and I was able to increase it a few times easily. We blasted through the very reasonable minimum spend quite quickly so I was happy to top up some more as most venues had a much higher min spend anyway. The bar was decorated with fairy lights in the pillars and I took happy birthday banners, helium 40 balloon numbers and these little number light things off amazon that worked really well to make the area feel suitably themed. We ordered pizzas via the suggested company and they were on time and delicious. Tip, if Kim tells you you’ve ordered to much… you probably have. I had been a bit worried the toilets wouldn’t be sufficient for two private parties but i never had to queue. The basement bar is cool as it has direct back stair access to the smoking area and toilets. I have literally zero negative things to say. Top venue and team. Book Apples and Pears, you won’t be disappointed.

Perfect venue for my party of 35 people. Communication was great throughout, genuinely lovely bar staff and security, option to play your own music through a proper sound system and lots of space in the basement area. Can’t recommend enough.

Everything went so smoothly. Before the event, Kim was always very helpful and responsive. On the day, the whole staff was very friendly, smiley and flexible. Every time we had a request they would take care of it straight away. We loved that we could just play our own music from the DJ booth it was very cool. Many thanks to everybody at Apples&Pears for making our party memorable.

The venue is gorgeous and the staff were absolutely amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better place to host my Graduation party and I will definitely be returning for future events!!!
