About this space

Shirley Park Golf Club has one large function room, the Dome suite, which seats up to 150 persons, theatre style for a conference/meeting or on separate tables for a banquet, corporate dinner, or a party. This same room has a good size dance floor, p.a system, and Wi-Fi throughout AND is very bright and airy, overlooking the attractive club patio and golf course.
The Dome suite is adjacent to the very comfortable bar lounge, which can also be used for tea & coffee breaks, pre-dinner drinks, and as a general reception area.

This is not your average conference or dining room in Croydon. This is a tastefully-decorated meeting room or function space, in a relaxing atmosphere with lots of natural daylight and a full bar and catering facilities for your special event.
We cater for many different events, from a small family wake with finger buffet to a large celebration, party, or wedding, offering a range of menu packages with drinks and often some extras like canapes or tea, coffee, and pastries.
Room hire is available for a half-day or full-day or even just a wedding ceremony.

We were celebrating a double milestone—my birthday and 20 years of marriage. Most of our special events, including our wedding reception, had been held at Selsdon Park Hotel and Golf Club, so we were sad when it closed. Then we discovered Shirley Park Golf Club online, which had a similar feel to Selsdon Park but was much more affordable. We were honoured to host our special party at Shirley Park Golf Club and to introduce our family and guests to such a wonderful venue. We and our guests thought the Dome Suite was full of character and looked stunning with our party planner’s centerpiece arrangement of tall flowers in elegant vases on every table. The Caribbean buffet was outstanding, with flavourful curry mutton and jerk chicken. The canapés and desserts were delicious. Debbie, the manager that night, along with the chef and staff, were attentive, cheerful, and accommodating, going the extra mile for our guests. Nothing was too much trouble. One guest said, “I loved every minute.” Our DJ remarked, “How come I live locally and didn’t know this place existed? I’ll definitely be coming back here.” It was an unforgetable night.
There was a lack of efficiency from one of the managers. The night before, Rory contacted me and I found out that vital orders, like the Welcome Drinks for Guests and the table plan diagram, hadn’t been arranged by a manager who was now on sabbatical. This made me concerned about other areas, but Rory was reassuring and made up for it by giving me an extra 30 minutes to set up. On the day, Debbie the manager followed through, which was helpful. The front of the hotel is very dark and could use more lighting, as several guests drove past it multiple times. There are two postal code addresses on the website, which led to some confusion among the guests. The car park was icy and hazardous, and also poorly lit—an outside attendant could improve guest safety. The ladies’ and disabled toilets could use a few extra touches, like diffusers and hand cream. The cloakroom is a good size but needs decluttering.

All the staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. All our guests including the children were made very welcome and we had lots of positive comments from our guests about the fork buffet which was excellent in terms of quality and value. The lemon cheesecake was especially good but all the food was great. The bar manager looked after the children's needs with squash as well as sensitively serving the Prosecco. If we needed to find a venue in this part of London again this would be our first port of call. It was a pleasure to organise the event with the support of this staff team.
