About Withington Public Hall Institute

Built in 1861, Withington Public Hall Institute first acted as a public library, with a members’ club downstairs from 1906. Since re-opening as a community-owned space in 2020, it’s run as a not-for-profit pub and event venue in the evenings - and now doubles as a flexible daytime hub for co-working and private hire.
Available for bookings seven days a week, WPHI offers three distinct spaces:
The Snug – our cosy pub room, ideal for intimate gatherings, meetings and small celebrations.
The Hall – a bright beer hall and pizza bar used for gigs, parties, socials, workshops, fairs and larger private events.
Upstairs – a newly renovated, calm co-working space (open Mon–Fri, 10-4) that can also host smaller workshops, screenings and creative sessions.
The venue opens to the public Thursday–Saturday, 4–11pm, serving home-baked pizzas - which can also be offered for private events by arrangement.
A welcoming, characterful space with deep local history, WPHI is perfect for anything from focused workdays to lively celebrations.
