Auerbach Room at The Royal Society of Edinburgh
About this space
The Auerbach Room is named after Charlotte Auerbach, a pioneering geneticist whose work helped establish the field of mutagenesis and who was among the first women elected to the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Having fled Nazi Germany in the 1930s, she went on to build a distinguished academic career in the UK and is remembered for her significant contributions to science.
With its high ceilings and large windows overlooking George Street, the Auerbach Room is a bright and comfortable space, well suited to seminars, workshops, and smaller meetings. Decorated with portraits of the first female members of the RSE, it offers a subtle sense of history and character. Configured in a fixed boardroom layout, the room accommodates up to 10 people. For larger events, it also works well as a breakout space for smaller group sessions, while the decorative fireplace adds warmth and complements the surrounding period features.
The room is equipped with reliable, high-quality AV, including a Logitech camera, soundbar, and microphone, alongside a Samsung display screen. It can be connected to wirelessly from within the room, making it ideal for hybrid meetings and bringing remote participants into your session.
