General Venue Hire Rules – Captain Cook Hotel
Booking Confirmation
All bookings require a signed agreement and a deposit to secure your date. Final numbers and details must be confirmed at least 7 days prior to the event.
Minimum Spend & Hire Fees
Minimum spend or hire fees apply depending on the day, time, and area hired. These will be confirmed during your booking.
Licensing & Trading Hours
The venue is licensed until 11pm (Sun–Wed) and 1am (Thurs–Sat). All events must conclude by these times unless otherwise approved.
Food & Beverage
No outside food or drinks are permitted without prior approval. Cakes are welcome for special occasions. All catering must be arranged in advance.
Decorations
Decorations are allowed but must not damage the venue (e.g., no confetti, glitter, nails or tape on walls). Setup/pack down must be within your booking time unless arranged.
Music & AV
Live music and DJs are permitted within licensing restrictions. Our speaker system and TVs can be used on request. Noise levels must remain respectful of surrounding neighbours.
Security & Staffing
Security may be required for larger or late-night events, at the discretion of the venue. All bar and kitchen staff are provided.
Damage & Cleaning
You are responsible for any damage caused by your guests. A cleaning fee may apply if the space is left in poor condition.
Guest Conduct
All guests must adhere to RSA laws and venue policies. The venue reserves the right to remove or refuse service to any intoxicated or disruptive individuals.
Cancellations
Cancellations must be made in writing. Deposits are non-refundable within 30 days of the event unless otherwise agreed.

The Captain Cook Hotel, a heritage-listed venue in the heart of Paddington. We have a stylish modern fitout and flexible layout, the entire venue or individual spaces can be hired to suit birthdays, engagements, corporate events, live music nights, and more.
Choose from multiple function areas including the main bar, a large dining room, private dining room, and a dedicated bistro with a pizza section and full commercial kitchen. The venue is licensed for up to 250 guests (approx. 100 seated) and operates until 1am Thursday to Saturday, 11pm Sunday to Wednesday.
Food and drink packages are fully flexible. Opt for in-house catering with set menus, grazing boards or à la carte, or arrange external catering. Bar tabs and drinks packages available. Guests are welcome to BYO cake.
Among the amenities are a speaker system, multiple TVs, space for DJs or live music, and heaters for outdoor events. The venue is mostly step-free with an accessible bathroom.
Located at 162 Flinders Street, Paddington, the pub is within walking distance of public transport, Central Station, and the SCG. There’s also ample parking available just behind the venue.
All pricing is based on your event size, time and setup needs. Minimum spend or hire fees may apply. Full staffing provided, with bar, kitchen and security staff as needed. You can also customise the space with your own décor or themes.
