The Hawthorns sits on the edge of Douglas Valley Golf Course in the village of Blackrod, just west of the West Pennine Moors. From the gardens and terraces, you’ve got clear views across to Winter Hill, which really sets the backdrop, especially on a bright day. It feels peaceful and tucked away, but still easy to get to.

Inside, the layout’s simple and works well for weddings and events. The Hedgerow Suite is usually where guests arrive for drinks and canapés — it’s a relaxed space to gather before moving through. The Blossom Suite is the main room, seating up to 120 in the day and around 180 in the evening. It’s clean, elegant, and easy to style around whatever colour scheme you’ve chosen.

The whole venue is exclusive use, so it’s just you and your guests for the day. No sharing the space, no overlap — just a straightforward setup that lets everything flow properly from start to finish.
