Whether it’s a work Christmas party, the wedding of the century, or your aunt’s 50th birthday, give your next function a bit of that Melbourne Fringe flair. Centrally located in the heart of Melbourne at the iconic Trades Hall building, Common Rooms is Melbourne Fringe’s year-round home for independent artists, workers and people who like to party. With two fully equipped rooms, exclusive hires and long licenses, we can help you put the FUN in function, no matter the shape or size.
The Ballroom is a performance space & bar that holds up to 174 patrons standing or 114 seated theatre-style. Perfect for your big party, DJ night, music gig or cabaret show. The Lounge is a second, intimate salon-style space that holds up to 76 people and is ideal for smaller functions, workshops, meetings and rehearsals. The Lounge can be used as a break-out area or backstage green room at no extra cost, offering a combined total capacity of 250 patrons.
The Ballroom is a fully-equipped party space, with a professional bar and state-of-the-art sound system, projectors and all the lights you could dream of – and yes, that includes a mirror ball.
Full accessibility: Common Rooms is fully accessible, including a portable lift to the stage.

The venue was phenomenal, and the experience was unparalleled. Not only did the venue suit our event perfectly, but it also matched our values of inclusion, accessibility, gender expression, equality, and sexuality.
