Front + Rear Gallery at Root Division
About this space
The combined Front and Rear Gallery offers 1,750 sq ft of flexible, open-plan space with high ceilings and natural light. The venue accommodates 100–120 guests standing or 70 seated and includes a 750 sq ft Front Gallery opening onto Mission Street and a 1,000 sq ft Rear Gallery with 14 ft ceilings.
Street-level ADA access, dimmable lighting, and access to ADA restrooms are provided. The space suits corporate offsites, workshops, receptions, and events, with rotating art exhibitions or a blank layout between shows.

As a courtesy to our neighbors, the space must be vacated by midnight at the latest.
Artists and participants are expected to work together, interact and create in ways that protect personal
and artistic freedom and community standards. Communication among artists, participants and Root
Division is based on a philosophy of respect for one another, honesty, integrity and understanding
Participating artists and event producers use the facility at Root Division frequently for exhibitions. All
artwork displayed at Root Division must be removed and any alteration to the walls, floor or other physical
aspect of the facility repaired in a timely fashion. The timing of removal and repair is determined by either
the termination of the exhibition for which work was displayed and or impending event, exhibition or class
which will utilize the facility. Removal and repair is the responsibility of the participant unless an
agreement is made that another person will take responsibility for the work (example; an event chair agrees
to de-install a show and patch & paint all walls).
Guests, their conduct, and their safety are the responsibility of the Participant who acts as their host.
Doors and other access points to Root Division must be closed and locked at all times. The only exception is
for direct load-in and for staffed reception/ entry to an event.
The kitchenette should be used for food and food preparation, and the counter, sink, shelves, and
refrigerator are to be left in a sanitary condition. Please use utility sink for cleaning brushes or non-food
clean-up.
Trash and recycling are collected each Tuesday at the curb. Participants will take steps to collect all trash
and recyclable items and place them in appropriate bins. All receptacles must have a bag liner in them
before they are used.
Smoking is NOT permitted in Root Division. Possession or use of illegal drugs is NOT permitted at Root
Division.
