Host rules

There is no deposit necessary for Ivy Room events.

We are able to only split checks evenly down the middle with a maximum of 4 cards.

All of our menus are prix fixe and allow you, as host, to make selections prior to your event date.

Events with a guest arrival time between at or before 1:00 PM, are able to choose between 2 a la carte menus, a family-style menu, and a mingling (cocktail) option.

Events with a guest arrival time between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM, are able to offer their group our A la Carte Dinner Menu, Family Style Menu, or our Evening Mingling (cocktail) option.

Please let us know if anyone in your group has any special diets or allergies. We are able to make modifications to accommodate most diets.

Outside décor is welcome.  However, we require that no glitter or confetti be used and that nothing adhere to the walls.

All décor must be approved beforehand by the events department.

We have a one-week cancellation policy on all events. Events canceled within a week of their set date are charged a cancellation fee which is $400 for daytime events and $500 for evening events.

We require a finalized head count 48 hours prior to your event.  We are not able to lower your guest count on the day of your event.  If your party is smaller than your finalized guest count, we will have to charge for the finalized guest count. 

Alternatively, if your party is larger than your finalized guest count, we will charge for the number of guests in attendance and our team will do their best to provide enough food for the group, though we cannot promise that we will be able to send out a spread large enough for the number of guests in attendance.


Tiny Boxwoods is an upscale garden cafe with an open, airy vibe serving light fare & famed chocolate chip cookies.

Ten years ago, three dreamers set out to build a restaurant in the middle of a beloved River Oaks nursery.

We named it Tiny Boxwoods, after the little potted trees that can always be found throughout the garden.

We didn’t have enough staff to open for breakfast or lunch, so we spent the first week giving out lattes for free to anyone that walked in the door.

In some ways, we had no idea what we were doing. Build a beautiful space, cook fresh, from-scratch food, create a culture of happy employees that would be proud of the work we were doing, and then just hope people came.

Nestled next to the nursery that inspired it all, our original Tiny Boxwoods remains a pocket of tranquility where people are happy to just be, sipping espresso on the patio or sharing a crisp salad and time with friends.

Please note that while we truly treasured the experience, we no longer host weddings at any of our locations.

We wanted to create something that would become a part of people’s lives. A place they could call their happy place. With all the change and growth in the last 10 years, we remain as proud of our Tinys today as we were the day we opened.
