The ceremony can take place in the elegant De Beauvoir Suite or at The Orangery, bathed in natural light and boasting views of the garden. Both of these rooms are also perfect for hosting a wedding breakfast and evening reception.
Should you need more space, you can celebrate your wedding day at a marquee set in the garden. It is possible to hold an outdoor ceremony as well. The grounds offer plenty of seating areas, including a patio and a raised decking area.

There are an outdoor reception space and a marquee allowed. The venue provides a changing room for the bride. Pets, fireworks, and confetti are allowed.
About Downham Hall
Tucked away in rural Essex is Downham Hall, a former country house. Bought in 2017 by Andrew and Christina, it has been beautifully restored and converted into a boutique hotel and restaurant.
Apart from luxurious accommodation and delicious seasonal food, Downham Hall also offers fantastic event spaces with garden access.
Set amongst beautiful grounds and partially moated, this family-run hotel is a gorgeous wedding venue. It is licensed for civil ceremonies and welcomes same sex marriages.
With a relaxed atmosphere, impeccable service and wonderful scenery for photographs, it has everything you need to host the wedding of your dreams!
The venue is located in Downham, Essex. The picturesque village is part of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering beautiful scenery for walks among nature.
St Margaret’s Church is just around the corner from Downham Hall.
Despite its secluded location, the venue is easily accessible from the A12 and A127. The M25 is just 20 minutes away. The nearest train station is Wickford (7 minutes by car).
