Private Room & Bar 1st Floor at Clerkenwell and Social

I booked the upstairs space for a surprise party to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday. It was absolutely perfect!! The venue is gorgeous! Huge windows and great decor which created a lovely atmosphere. The photos on the site don’t do the space justice and I was pleasantly surprised when I visited it in person. All the guests kept saying how awesome the venue was. I had been worried that the venue would be too big for a party of 40 people but it worked out great. Benny (Venue Manager) was very helpful and responsive. She guided me through menu and drinks packages to suit my budget and requirements and they worked out really well on the day. She also created a special bar menu which was personalised for the birthday boy that both looked nice and served the purpose of limiting the bar tab from a practical perspective. On the night, the food and drinks were lovely. Pre-ordered drinks and food were laid out stylishly to welcome the guests and the drinks at the bar especially the cocktails were delicious. The portion sizes for the finger food buffet was great - good mixture of pizzas, sliders, kebabs, calzones, arancini and other tasty things and there was plenty of it. People kept complimenting the food particularly the sliders and it was great how it was being freshly made and refilled from the kitchen regularly. The staff on the night were all really lovely and helpful. Gui (the bar manager on the night) made sure everything ran like clockwork and also gave good recommendations to help ensure the surprise went smoothly. All the staff were great and also helped in cutting the three tier cake we had bought and gave us candles (as I forgot them). The location is very convenient for a party as it’s only 5 mins from Farringdon station so easy for people to get to. I didn’t use the music system so can’t comment on that but we were happy enough with the background music and chatter. At the end of the night I was a little below minimum spend and we simply agreed that I would take home bottles of wine to the value of the difference. It felt like excellent value for a great night with brilliant food and drinks.

No lift so difficult for elderly relatives/ less abled to get upstairs (if this is relevant for your booking).

All the staff were extremely helpful. Loved the venue and the food! Benny was very helpful and quick to respond all the way to the lead up of the event.

Beautiful location, really central and easy to get to. The venue was the perfect size for our party of 50 guests plus a photo booth in one corner. It was great to have a whole floor to ourselves with its own bar and amenities. The staff were amazing, food was incredible and it was a hassle-free evening, so we could enjoy ourselves. Highly recommend this venue.

The only negative was that the night went by so fast!

Perfect venue for a gathering. Nice lighting, nice seating, good service, great chips and the staff looked after us really well . We'll be booking for next year 100%.

You could probably turn the heating on in the toilets, but we understand, times are tough :) :) :)
