# Tagvenue

> Tagvenue is a venue-hire marketplace for finding and booking event spaces – over 22,000 human-verified venues in the UK, Ireland, Australia, Singapore, Canada and the USA. It is free for event organisers: no booking or admin fees. Use the search API below to find rooms for a user, then send them to the room page to enquire or book.

- Every bookable space is a **room**. A venue can have several rooms, and each room has its own page with photos, capacities, prices, reviews and an enquiry form.
- Markets use URL prefixes: UK has no prefix (search lives under `/uk/search/`), Ireland `/ie/`, Australia `/au/`, Singapore `/sg/`, Canada `/ca/`, USA `/us/`. Prices are in local currency.
- There is no public real-time availability. A `date` in a search keeps only rooms that open on that day of the week. Only the venue can confirm that a date is free, through an enquiry.

## Search API

`GET https://www.tagvenue.com/ajax/search-proxy/openai` returns up to 6 matching rooms as JSON. No API key needed.

Required parameters:

- `room_tag` – event or space type slug, e.g. `birthday-party`, `conference`, `wedding`, `meeting`, `rooftop`. Full list in "Event and space types" below.
- `iso_country_code` – `GB`, `IE`, `AU`, `SG`, `CA` or `US`.
- `neighbourhood` – the place the user asked for, e.g. `London`, `Shoreditch`, `Sydney`. Used as a label. It does not limit results on its own.
- `latitude_from`, `latitude_to`, `longitude_from`, `longitude_to` – bounding box of the search area in decimal degrees (`from` must be lower than `to`). This is what limits results by location. Example for London: `51.38`, `51.62`, `-0.35`, `0.10`.
- `people` – number of guests (1–10000). Returns rooms that fit the group and leaves out rooms that are much too big.

Optional parameters:

- `date` – event date as `dd/mm/yyyy`. Keeps rooms that open on that weekday and uses that day's prices.
- `min_price`, `max_price` – limits on the room's headline price, in whole units of local currency (`5000` = £5,000).
- `room_features` – comma-separated IDs: 3 Wedding licence, 4 Temporary event notices (TENs), 5 Wi-Fi, 6 Natural light, 7 Air conditioning, 8 Projector, 9 Flatscreen TV, 10 Whiteboard, 11 Flipchart, 12 PA system / speakers, 13 Conference call facilities, 16 Storage space, 21 Photo equipment, 22 Video equipment, 23 Greenscreen, 24 Backdrops, 25 Dance floor, 26 Soundproof, 27 Mirrors, 28 Lighting equipment.
- `catering_options` – comma-separated IDs: 1 In-house catering, 2 Can provide halal, 3 Can provide kosher, 7 BYO alcohol allowed, 14 Extensive vegan menu, 15 Extensive gluten-free menu, 16 Allows external catering, 17 Approved caterers only, 18 Kitchen facilities available, 19 Buyout fee for external catering.
- `page` – `1`, `2`, `3`… for the next 6 results.

Example – a birthday party for 50 guests in London:

Response fields:

- `search_url` – the same search on tagvenue.com, with a map, filters and all results. Share it when the user wants to browse more options.
- `message` – a short status text.
- `results[]` – rooms, best matches first:
  - `room_and_venue` – "Room name at Venue name".
  - `url` – the room page, where the user enquires or books. Always link to it.
  - `address`, `neighborhood_message` – street address, and the nearest station or area.
  - `description` – room description written by the venue.
  - `standing_capacity`, `seating_capacity` – maximum number of guests.
  - `price`, `price_method`, `price_type` – headline price, e.g. `£600` + `minimum spend` + `per session`. `hire fee` is a fee for the space. `minimum spend` means no hire fee, but the group must spend at least that amount on food and drink. `per person` is a price per guest. It is a starting price – the venue confirms the final quote.
  - `rating` (out of 5), `reviews_count` – reviews left by Tagvenue customers.
  - `room_features`, `catering_options` – amenities and catering, as readable names.

Errors: a missing or invalid parameter returns HTTP 422 with `{"errors": {"<field>": ["<message>"]}}`, e.g. for an unknown `room_tag`.

## Enquiring and booking

There is no API for enquiries or bookings. Send the user to the room `url`:

1. On the room page, the user presses "Enquire now" and fills in the form: date, times, number of guests and a message.
2. Tagvenue creates their account automatically. The venue replies in Tagvenue's messenger with availability and a quote.
3. The user agrees the details with the venue and confirms the booking. Some rooms are paid online through Tagvenue, others directly to the venue. Either way, the organiser pays no booking fee.

Users can enquire at several rooms to compare offers. Including the budget, catering needs and timings in the message gets faster, more accurate replies.
