The building

Award-winning architects Wilkinson Eyre designed the innovative building, which draws inspiration from the many sides of a crystal. With attention-grabbing architecture that contrasts boldly with the curve of the O₂ centre beyond, the Crystal is one of the most recognisable buildings on London’s Royal Docks.

The green credentials

Setting the benchmark for sustainable building design, the Crystal is the only building in the world to achieve the highest certification in both the BREEAM and LEED schemes. Using solar power and a ground source heat pump to generate its own energy, its smart design means there’s no annual heating bill and that it releases 70% fewer CO₂ emissions than comparably-sized offices.

The exhibition

The Crystal’s popular exhibition explores sustainability trends and challenges, showcasing existing technological solutions that are helping to create greener, more liveable and more prosperous cities. Over 275,000 people have visited the interactive exhibition since the site opened in 2012, making it the world’s most visited exhibition on sustainability.

The events space

The Crystal is London’s most technologically advanced and sustainable events space. Conveniently located only ten minutes from Canary Wharf and London City Airport, its fully equipped meeting rooms boast panoramic views over the Royal Victoria Docks.

A multi-purpose venue that can accommodate big crowds, the Crystal’s event management team is there to coordinate all logistics, from AV to catering. The Tesla Model S Launch was a case in point, with an afternoon tea served next to a brand-spanking new model of the vehicle, and meeting spaces on the first floor used as press areas and hospitality space for VIP guests.

The summer package

This summer, the Crystal is offering a gourmet BBQ package for groups of up to 50 people in their relaxing outdoor events space. With fresh, seasonal dishes, like honey and lemon chicken thighs, BBQ pulled pork as well as build-your-own eton mess or rocky road, there’s no better venue in London to show off your organisation’s green credentials.
